Archaeologists recently discovered a giant reclining Buddha statue dating back to the third century near where the destroyed Bamiyan Buddhas are located.

In addition, Buddhist paintings, thought to be the world’s oldest oil paintings have also been found in the area, and archaeologists hope to put the statue will go on display sometime next year. For more, click here.
