This was supposed to be a blog about consumption, but just as I was finishing “The Story of Stuff” online (tipped off by a recent interview with Annie Leonard in Body and Soul Magazine), the UPS truck pulls up to deliver my new, gold gladiator sandals (non leather of course).

I am so often made aware of my own hypocrisy. I think we can all sight things in our life that we can improve upon (hopefully). Days like today that are “Ozone Alert” days here in Houston, when most of us have a hard time just breathing, sorta drive the point home.

What Annie Leonard says in her 20 minute video isn’t a news flash to most of us. The way she brings it all together and makes it easily digestible is, however, commendable and complete. The reality of all of this effort is really that each of us HAS to do something, many things, in order to pull this sustainability thing off. We’re going to also have to work together. It also means not making your annual sandal purchase online…..
