We have been working very hard on the President’s Cuffs,
and they’re finally finished!
So, today we had a party with punch!
We are cuffmakers.
We make cuffs for people out of things we find;
and sometimes we find amazing stuff
just laying on the ground!
We make cuffs so that people will feel:
and also, to make old things seem like new again.
Originally, we came from here:
But we also came from here,
here
and here.
Ladies and gentlemen,
we are here now!
So, without further ado,
President Obama’s New (Old)
Super-Powered Cuffs!
Something old…
I found this tiger cowrie shell at an ancient site on the Napali Coast (Kawaii, HI).
About ten minutes later, I found a brand new one on the beach a few feet away!
It had just washed up in the surf.
We found this special map yesterday,
and as a rule:
anything we serendipitously find on the final day of making cuffs is very special.
Vintage hook closures on a cotton backing that was grown and then spun by a family in Ethiopa in the 70’s.
(That family’s son lived with my grandparents for a year, and the cotton fabric was a gift.)
Washington,
Lady Liberty,
Abe Lincoln, twice.
One of them is very green!
Green…
how are we going to make it stick?
(*polaroid from my brave, wandering family, wth lveo.)
