The Dovekins.

Dovekins. If they were a stock, I’d buy. But they’re not. They’re a hipster folk merrymaking band that everyone at least in these here parts will know the name of in one year, and then they won’t be cool anymore. But that won’t matter, ’cause you’ll still want to listen to them, because they’re actually really, really good.

I’m in a love with a band infectious happy talented straight-up hard-working whacky fantastically catchy even once in awhile sweet. The Dovekins, seen twice over last month at Boulder County Farmers’ Market, god bless ’em, and playing all over Denver and Boulder at bars cafes on trains on traintracks at clubs and at house parties that I want to be invited to next time. They’re playing soon for Senator Bennet, even, elephantjournaldotcom will help publicize that event so stay tuned. Also they’re playing some good shows in Denver. Here’s one:

For now, go listen to ’em at their myspace web site, there’s four songs on there. ***First time I’ve gone to myspace since back in the day, the load times suck, the design of myspace sucks, what’s wrong with myspace? Oh, right, Rupert Murdoch bought it at its height, now it’s only useful for bands, no one else uses it no more.

In their own words:

Dovekins; a sailboat
no wind, but an electric fan.
solar powered, but no sun.
the moon reflects about 4%.
that won’t do. we’ll just blow it ourselves. we’ll take turns blowing. Stelth hyperventilates and passes out, I guess it’s up to Gryph again

Videos, probably best to get sense of the madness and merrymaking and great talented tunes that is the Dovekins. I took a video of my own today, will put it up when I figure out how.

Looks like Genny of Paper Bird:

Not their song, I don’t think, but the Farmers’ Market scene:
