Jasper Johal is one of very few preeminent yoga photographers working today. He’s shot elephant favorite Kathryn Budig‘s (nearly) naked ad campaign for Toesox, he photographs and designs Hard Tail’s gorgeously clean, minimal ad campaign, and if we were still publishing elephant magazine, instead of elephantjournal.com, we’d supplicate him to do a cover.
This calendar is one of my favorites, one of the few calendars I’d consider hanging on my walls for a year. Less sexual or even erotic than it is essential: getting to the essence of yoga practice, bared of fashion or distraction. Men, women, real yoga teachers and students practice in Jasper’s exquisite sense of light and dark simplicity.
And when 2011 rings in, you can go eco and frame up your favorite shot (see below).
