Dorothea actually grew up right outside of NYC in Hoboken and is most known for humanizing the Great Depression. Her images are intensely haunting – and perhaps a bit too real.

This is one of Lange’s most acclaimed photos entitled “Migrant Mother.” Even though some of Lange’s details of the account were reportedly incorrect, she said the following in 1960…
