Natural Products Expo West 2011.

This is my weekly editor’s letter, an introduction to our Top 10 blogs of the week email newsletter—a great way to follow elephant without getting overwhelmed (as opposed to, say, twitter or Facebook, where we’re verrrrry active). ~ ed.

This weekend, Lindsey and I (the entire staff of elephant) pilgrimaged to the mecca of Eco-meets-Big-Business: Natural Products Expo West.

I love it. There are more inspiring businesses and environmental heroes and entrepreneurs, visionairies per 100 square feet there than at, say, Davos (not that I’d know). These are people who are trying to change the world for the better through business—a sort of mass Trojan Horse operation for planetary good.

55,000 people attend. Thousands of established companies, 100s of new companies that may or may not ever make it back to The Expo for another year. The place is full of dreams and ambition, eco-responsibility and practical wheeling and dealing. And, I hear, some VIP dinners and public parties (I worked on wifi in my hotel room, each night, so won’t be covering any of that).

Over the next week we’ll release our Walk the Talk Show videos, my conversations with Green Titans and some random troublemaking. Hope you enjoy. We’ll also offer blogs on elephant’s Top 10 Favorite New Products, Top 10 Fave Classic Products, and Top 10 Products that…er…could stand some improvement.

Yours in the Vision of Enlightened Society,

Waylon Lewis
