Conceived in the misty Himalaya mountains, the royal science of Kriya Yoga was born as an antidote to faltering moral progress and a vehicle for hastening the spiritual evolution of our time. Its creator was Shiv Goraksha Babaji, the Non-Being Essentiality who manifested himself as a yogi and continues his work to this day, so that everyone on Earth can reach toward the spiritual heights that they deserve;oneness with soul and spirit and recognition as a being that is more than a mere body and mind.
If the goal of carrying the weight of secret wisdom sounds lofty, then the science of Kriya Yoga might seem beyond the reach of the ordinary yogi who is content to meditate through Downward Dog poses and Happy Baby stretches. Yes, the ordinary yoga that so many of us practice may seem far removed from the works of Himalayan yogis, but the truth is far simpler, and more accessible, than that.
A substantial movement is afoot throughout the yoga community, and that movement is to make the science of Kriya Yoga accessible to anyone, of any country or culture or degree of practice in yoga. An organization led by Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath has pledged to bring “Earth Peace through Self Peace”, doing so by teaching desiring souls the Kriya Yoga and then allowing each of them to hasten their spiritual evolution through consistent yoga practice.
The notion of peace by doing yoga is one that might seem intuitive to the regularly practicing yogi. After a yoga session, feelings of deep peace often emanate throughout the room, as the yogis smile knowingly at each other with the confidence that yes, this is good medicine. The Kriya Yoga aims to provide this peace for each yogi by greatly accelerating their spiritual progress, moving the yogi to a place beyond karma, where each deed may be done with complete freedom and joy.
You may have heard about Kriya Yoga in the book Autobiography of a Yogi, by Paramahansa Yogananda. In his book, Yogananda mentions that one, 30-second practice of the technique advances the karma of the yogi by approximately one year. Yes, you read that right – you can work through a year’s worth of your karma, bringing you that much closer to spiritual enlightenment – in 30 seconds. In just two days of practicing the Kriya Yoga, I passed through the karma of my life, advancing my own spiritual growth by 72 years! Kriya Yoga is truly the lightning path to spiritual enlightenment.
If you are interested in the lineage by which Yogananda learned Kriya Yoga, it is simple. Yogananda received Kriya Yoga from his guru Sri Yukteshwar, who received it from his guru Lahiri Mahasaya, who received it from his guru, Mahavatar Babaji himself!
I at first voiced inward skepticism, but my curiosity overtook any latent doubt and I found the organization Hamsa Yoga Sangh. They conduct initiations in Kriya Yoga across the world, and I sat with reverence as I learned the great and powerful techniques. The result? I have worked through thousands of years of my soul’s karma, and I have realized a deep soul connection to life that transcends my body or mind. This feeling is accessible to you, now, by becoming initiated in the science of Kriya Yoga. I do not claim enlightenment, but I know a peace that passes all understanding, and I know that peace as a direct result of my Kriya Yoga practice.
To learn more about the science of Kriya Yoga, I recommend visiting the website of Hamsa Yoga Sangh at hamsayoga.org, and seeing if there is a certified hamsacharya (Kriya Yoga teacher) in your area. The Kriya Yoga is a gift from Babaji himself, that we all might evolve spiritually to our highest and most noble nature. You may access this gift by signing up for an initiation with a hamsacharya near you. My highest hopes for your hastened spiritual evolution. In peace.
