Every year, at this time, I like to do a cleanse for about a week.
It’s not only for my physical health, which is already very strong
and fit. But it is also for my emotional and mental health as well.
Maybe you can relate?
When I go into meditation, whether it is movement meditation
like a nice Pranashama Yoga practice, or running, dancing,
swimming or sitting down with eyes closed just breathing…
One thing I notice right away is: what ever is blocking me
from accessing my highest and best potential in that moment
tends to surface right away in the form of thoughts…
It happened today.
I was running this morning (one of my favorite meditations 🙂
and a whole flood of thoughts came to me, followed closely by
a torrent of emotions and I actually started to cry while I was running.
It was a great release.
I share this with you, not to impress you with my ability to cry while running 😉
but to share with you that when we practice cleansing rituals
toxins stored in our cells and releasing fat from our bellies.
Since each layer of who you are is connected to every other layer,
when we cleanse our body, we can’t help but cleanse our mind,
emotions and some things we may not have been aware of
may surface to finally be released.
My emotions this morning came from a memory of childhood,
when I was a kid, it was so hard for me to make friends.
I was always moving from one foster home to the next so even when
I did make friends, I was already leaving them so soon, we didn’t get to go
deep into our relationship.
Later in my childhood, I found out some kids didn’t like me immediately
upon seeing me. Sounds strange right?!
Well, I later discovered, as some of them later became close friends
and shared with me what they had thought when they first saw me.
They told me they didn’t like me for no reason other then the fact that I looked
cute and happy and that bothered them.
And here I was, all the while, hurting inside, missing my mother
and not feeling connected to anything from moving all the time!
It’s so strange how we can pre-judge others and block ourselves
from accessing true happiness and deep friendship based upon
projections, judgment and jealousy.
I’ve gotten a lot stronger over the years, so when people do that to me now,
(and they still do, believe me!) I just keep on shining my light.
I refuse to snuff out what God gave me for anyone – ever.
I suggest you do the same.
As the brilliant genius Marianne Williamson has been quoted saying
from her book A Return to Love,
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that
other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.”
May your life always be full of great friendship,
deep love and belly busting laughter!
Blessings to you always in all ways,
Namaste,
Dashama
and start anytime. 🙂 You will never regret it.
One person following this cleanse emailed me about losing 4.5 pounds
the day after Christmas! She did say she ate way too much for the holiday, so
some of it was just waste leaving her body, but how great she must have felt to let go of all that!
Nice.
Letting go is the best. 🙂
Love you!
Namaste,
Dashama
