Filmmakers behind “TINY: A Story About Living Small” display their 130-square foot tiny house at McGuckin Hardware, April 28.
Many of you may already know about the tiny house undertaking that my boyfriend, Christopher, and I began about 11 months ago. With no prior building experience, we set out to build a 130-square foot tiny house from scratch here in Boulder, Colorado, and to document the process as part of a documentary about the small house movement called, “TINY: A Story About Living Small.”
Originally, we thought we’d be done building in 3 months, by the end of the summer. Boy, did we bite off more than we could chew. But, we stuck with it and almost a year later our tiny house is complete!
To celebrate, we’ll be hosting an open house in the parking lot of local hardware mecca McGuckin Hardware.
What: TINY Open House
Where: The north side parking lot of McGuckin Hardware (2525 Arapahoe, Boulder CO)
When: Saturday April 28, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Why: Come tour the completed house and learn more about small house design and off-the-grid living!
If you can’t make the tiny house but you’re interested in our film, check out our teaser trailer below. You can find more info and pre-order a copy of the DVD on our website and can find more step-by-step photos of the construction process on our facebook page.
In addition to touring the house, visitors will also have the chance to check out the “Sol Man” portable solar generator that will be powering our off-the-grid tiny home:
