Vow to Give Back with a Charity Wedding Registry. ~ Kate L. Harrison

A Practical Wedding

Be honest: Do you really need one more gravy boat? Another bedding set?

More importantly, don’t you want to create a more memorable way for your guests to gift you for your wedding day?

Today, about 60% of couples live together before tying the knot, which means that they’ve already begun building a home. For the most part, this can make a wedding registry moot, unless the couple wants to completely replace everything that they own.

As part of your green wedding, you can create a registry that gives back without increasing the carbon footprint of your big day. The I Do Foundation lets couples that are getting married create a charitable wedding registry in support of a charitable cause that’s close to their hearts. Founded in 2002, the I Do Foundation is a national pioneer in wedding occasion giving with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

The I Do Foundation

How does it work?

The I Do Foundation has a simple process to make your life easier when planning your wedding and your registry. The first requirement is that you must register your wedding with the I Do Foundation.

The I Do Foundation has developed a list of recommended partner organizations that you can select from after you have registered. You also have the option to select a specific cause from the following six special focus areas: Environment, Social Justice, Community Development, Education, Children, and Health. You can give domestically or internationally by selecting from the 1.5 million charities the foundation has in its database.

Could I Give Back without a Charity Registry?

You have the option to create your gift registry through the I Do Foundation, which will allow you to raise charitable contributions at no extra cost to you or your guests. Once you register with one of the Foundation’s partner stores, up to 5% of the purchase will be donated to your selected charity. The percentage depends on the individual stores that are included on the registry. If you still need a few pieces to complete your home, this is a great option for you to do so while still giving back to the community.
