There are moments that defy language.
There’s actually a word for things we don’t have words for, for things that are just untranslatable, but I don’t remember that either.
If there were a word for that second, that split second of light, warm wind, scent I can’t place and overwhelming love flooding my heart, I would tell you.
I turned around and took a picture, hoping to catch it, to capture it.
But it’s just a picture. It’s just like every other picture of nature that someone else took.
What you can’t see, is the second where I felt the blood rush to my face, felt my pulse quicken and felt my heart burst open and fall in love with life. I can’t show you.
I could try using words like “happiness” or “bliss” but they’ve been folded and unfolded so many times they are just worn out currency from a long forgotten country.
I could borrow someone else’s words, secondhand wisdom and try to make you feel it. Send you Rumi quotes and inspiring pictures, like turning on a flashlight to try and show you what it feels like to sit in the sun.
I could tell you, before you close one more door, turn around. Open your eyes.
I could whisper three magic words in your ear:
This.
Here.
Now.
Take a deep breath all the way to your toes.
Bend back and stretch your arms so wide that your heart breaks open a little more.
Fall in love with life.
