The Greatest Irony
In the greater scheme of things is it important
What you wear tomorrow morning,
Or whether the bees go extinct,
Or even that some power-hungry politician might
Press that little red button?
Does it matter much
That right now in some corner of the world
A baby is crying for his Mother,
Unheard?
Is it really such a tragedy that children
The world over starve,
While young girls sell their bodies
To line the pockets of old men?
Should we care if we hear
Of a murder here
Or a rape there
While neither there nor here
There is even a drop of peace
To be found in any human heart?
It is only when one is beyond
The need for help
That one can truly help another.
And only then will we see that truly – nothing matters.
It certainly doesn’t matter much if you share or comment,
but if you choose to do so, it’d be nicer than nice.
