We are vibrational beings.
We are made of energy that is constantly vibrating. If you want to know what kind of frequency you are vibrating on, just look around your life.
When you have a room full of tuning forks and you set off one tuning fork, all the tuning forks in the room that are set to same frequency will go off; the ones that are set to different frequencies will do nothing.
This is how our own energy works.
We can only attract that which is in harmony with our vibrational state of being and we repel that which is not. Therefore, there is truly nothing as important as tending to our vibration if we are striving to consciously create a life we love.
This is reflected in our physical reality in the sense that our bodies are 70% water, which makes us an excellent conductor of sound and vibration. It is said that we hear with all the cells in our bodies.
We can also see evidence of sound’s physical manifestation in the fascinating Cymatics experiments conducted by German scientist Hans Jenny. Sounds create specific, amazing, repeatable geometric shapes in sand and liquid held in metal plates while the sound is being conducted through them.
This is why when things are not flowing well in my life, I love to use sound and music to raise my vibration. It is powerful, and it is instant. Studies have shown that music, when administered to patients undergoing surgery, had equal efficacy to Valium in helping relax them and dissipate their stress.
There is one particular time in my life when I was able to manifest a dramatic turnaround in the conditions in my life by using music as a major tool in the transformation. I was in one of the lowest, most challenging points of my life. I mean, everything was going wrong.
I was broke and my relationships were ending, or the ones I was still in were unhealthy, draining and unfulfilling. I had no idea how to create a work situation that was fulfilling, as well as one that helped meet my financial needs and responsibilities adequately. I was in physical pain due to an injury to my iliosacral joint.
It was at this point that I made a conscious decision to turn my life around drastically. I began using music in conjunction with meditation, yoga and mindfulness to get myself into a higher vibrational state. I was using music with each of the tools to deepen and accelerate my progress.
It worked powerfully and like a charm.
One week after I began dedicating myself to raising my vibration this way, things began to shift in a big way. A month into my new vibrational work, I found myself in Tokyo auditioning and landing a job that checked off every item I had ever dreamed of in a work situation; I hadn’t been aware that this kind of work even existed. I drew it to me by using music in conjunction with movement and meditation. I raised my vibration to the point where it was in harmony with this amazing gig that I never even knew existed. I opened the way for it to come.
My life has never been the same since.
It was really the music that powerfully and instantly raised my vibration and kept it there long enough for things to shift in my physical world. It was the music that accelerated my progress because it’s effect was so powerful, instantaneous and profound. Some of the ways I like to use music to keep my vibration in the highest possible flow are:
1. I love using cheerful, celebratory music immediately upon waking up to help get me feeling happy, grateful and excited for a new day.
This would be something like. Jamiroquai, Incognito, Earth, Wind and Fire, Louie Vega, Rasmus Faber, Groove Junkies and Miguel Migs. These selections are also effective at times when I am tired, and I need help getting out of bed and being happy about it. The upbeat, energetic, happy music works better than coffee!
2. Sometimes, it is uplifting and chill music that helps take me right into a deep and energizing meditation before starting my day that gets me off on the right foot.
For this I would use some instrumental or ambient tracks by Jimpster, J Boogie’s Dubtronic Science, Bonobo, Atjazz, Lemongrass, Science For Girls or Desert Dwellers, as well as more traditional meditation music.
3. There is nothing like playing music when I need to be inspired and reminded of why I do what do and why I want to create the things I am working on.
In this context, music can help focus, motivate and energize me when I am taking on things that may otherwise seem tedious or difficult. I like using Esperanza Spalding, Jane Monheit, Bondax, Gretchen Parlatto, Colossus, Hideo Kobayashi or Stephane Pompougnac for this.
4. I love using music during yoga or other exercise to help me get out of my head and move right into my heart space
Turning the physical activity into a deep healing, centering meditation connects me to the truth of who I am, and it makes me able to hear my heart’s true voice. I can use any number of artists, including all of the above for occasions like this.
5. When I start to feel stressed, overwhelmed or challenged, I love using a playlist of beautiful bossa nova or hip, light-hearted jazz with an acoustic guitar that sounds like a warm ocean breeze with a fresh, sweet vocal on top.
Or an electronic, down tempo track with lush pads and a focused, repetitive musical motive that feels like a mantra that helps relax me and brings me home. For this purpose I love Rita Lee, Night Bird, Marcela. Mangabeira, Raul Midon, Donovan Frankenreiter or some of the artists listed under #2 and #3.
Of course, we all have different kinds of music that speak to us in different ways, so whatever music you choose, the most important thing is how it makes you feel.
That is the power of music. to get you into your good vibrations.
