I rarely watch online videos that are much past the average few minutes in length.
I made an exception for this.
Will Ferrell, out promoting the long awaited sequel to Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, joined an actual TV newscast with Bismarck, N.D.’s KXMB, on Saturday night.
Ferrell as Burgundy makes it nearly impossible for the other anchors to keep a straight face during his typical over-enunciation of words like “Dakota STORMCENTER” and “s’mores.”
Ferrell starred in 2004’s Anchorman and has been popping up in character—like Dodge Durango ads—to promote his new film, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, scheduled for release in December.
“It’s not too often you can get away with calling a sheriff’s deputy a dummy—even though I have,” begins one Burgundy-narrated segment. He closes out a report on a hockey game by saying, “I’ve never seen fighting in a hockey game before. That was fascinating,” and when questioned about how long it took him to grow his mustache, he answers “About 20 minutes.”
At one point he also slowly leans into co-anchor Amber Schatz’s screen and tells her that he’s married so “don’t get any ideas.” Later, he casually reaches into sportscaster Jon Schaeffer’s frame and pats him on the shoulder mid-report.
Classy as always, Ron Burgundy.
Watch the entire program, uncut here (the black spots are where the commercials aired):
