Sometimes we find ourselves without words.
In dance, movement speaks, with photos, images tell the story.
They also have the ability to speak to the depths of one love shared between two.
Within this set of photographs of an elderly couple showing the passing of seasons, there is no need for words to convey a wordless love story. But as we look at them we know what the final photo will reveal, that an end is nearing, we know intuitively the last photo will show only one of them left in the photo—at least, that was my impression.
As I examined each photo, I looked at the physical holding of their bodies, could tell by the way they stood that it would be the man left standing alone.
The images of this couple standing together, with the same background, captures the seasons passed, and also shows, quite poignantly, the life remaining after death within that passing of time.
It also reveals how our bodies have a language that speak about our discomforts, the weakening stance we hold, as we waver away from our center.
