I wrote this for my son when he was having a difficult day.
At two he is barely learning to talk about his emotions and the events of the day. The only recourse I am left with is to hold him, comfort him and give him a safe place to cry.
Let Me Be Your Ocean.
On days like this let me be your ocean.
When tears fill your eyes let them run to the sea.
A great expansive space,
deep dark and blue
where your tears dissolve—
into the rest of existence.
Anger is like crashing waves,
on the ocean they the are ripples—
moving across the surface.
Let me be your ocean, cry your tears on me.
I’ll hold you shaking, sobbing in my arms.
