Watermelon Delight. {Poem}

Flickr: Harsha K R

On a hot summer day,
There’s no better delight
Than a big, round watermelon
Juicy and ripe.

As the heat of the day
Makes sweat bead on your head
Take a bite of a slice
That is cool, wet and red!

Crispy and crunchy
Let the flavor seep in
Don’t mind the juice
Dribbling down on your chin.

Keep munching and crunching
Right down to the rind,
Leave no tasty morsel
Of red, wetness behind!

Soak in the coolness
Of every last bite.
‘Till tummy is full,
And heart’s feeling light.

And remember to save a few
Shiny, black seeds
To be ready for next summer’s
Watermelon needs.

‘Cause on hot summer days,
There’s no better delight
Than a big, round watermelon
Juicy and ripe.
