Her Caged Heart. {Poem}

QThomas Bower/Flickr

There had been a mix up she felt

When her body had been moulded

She wasn’t meant to stay static

Footfall her only movement

She was fated to fly

Far above rooftops and trees

But they hadn’t given her wings

And it confused her sometimes

The feeling of incompleteness

Sometimes she felt defective

And she’d look up at the others

High in flight above her

Wondering why they could glide

Yet she was grounded

Burdensome and weighted

And when she saw them circle

The chimneys and clouds

She’d feel such affinity

And the beauty of their freedom

Would crack her caged heart
