When we meet,
Will I know that it’s you?
Will you know that it’s me?
Wouldn’t it be sweet
If, when we meet,
We just know.
When we meet,
Will my fears dispel
Or become more intense?
Will we shirk all pretence
And unmask our true selves?
I hope so.
When we meet,
Will we embrace shyly,
Or wildly?
Will we go for the slow burn,
Or jump in with both feet?
I’m curious to know.
When we meet,
Will we tread our path gingerly,
Or let it unfold easily?
I know what I’d prefer.
But even if cautious and wary
We will overcome
Fear and uncertainty.
As a team we will greet
Whatever grief we should meet.
That much, for sure, I do know.
I can feel you in the ether.
I sense that you’re near me
And soon I will touch you for real.
Oh what a treat that will be,
And with eager excitement
I await the magical moment
When we meet.
