Whether Astrology is science or magic, we’re open to most things, if they may be of benefit. ~ Ed.

*Vedic Astrology, or Jyotish, is one of the oldest sciences on the planet and considered a relative of astronomy. It is an important and valuable part of the ancient Vedic texts. This complex, logic-based and also intuitive science, has survived thousands of years in India’s Vedic tradition and is still considered a highly valuable tool of guidance and life insight. It is not a religion, but rather a philosophical understanding of human and cosmic existence. In Sanskrit, jyoti means light. Essentially, the study of jyotish is the study of light and how we interact with the cosmic light—within us and within the cosmos. Vedic astrology, or the sidereal approach to astrology, casts charts differently than Western, or Tropical astrology. The meanings, implications and purpose of jyotish is therefor different, as are the details used for prediction and the indications given below.

In the coming weeks and months, there will be an increase of Ketu‘s cutting energy.
Ketu is the tail of the serpent who brings release, cutting attachments and forced letting go. He brings liberation, ultimately, but not usually without pain. He can also show you specifically where there is trauma in your natal chart, as his detachment causes disconnection on multiple levels—physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Mercury in Sagittarius.
This transit of Mercury impacts the mental body and the mind, stirring a change process that impacts relationships, money, the feminine and creative powers.
Mercury will retrograde on December 19 for roughly three weeks, until January 8. This prolongs his stay in the fiery sign of Sagittarius, who is fortunately a friend.
Mercury lands in Mula Nakshatra. This constellation is notorious for sparking change, transition, release and uprooting. Mercury will be in Mula for a lengthy stay in the coming months, moving in and out of this challenging gandanta (gap) of change. Mercury will leave Mula for the first time on December 8, but will return on December 28 for over three weeks, until January 21, 2017.
New Moon in Scorpio.
Just as the month comes to a close, the moon empties. On November 29 at 5:18 p.m. MST, the new moon arrives in Scorpio and Anuradha nakshatra (the friendly star). The moon is debilitated and sits with sun and Saturn in the sign of depth, transformation and the hidden realms. Debilitated moon turns inward, softens its expression and requests deep contemplation.
Venus in Capricorn.
Venus arrives in Capricorn at 5:53 a.m. MST on December 2, joining exalted Mars here. Jupiter gives his gaze from Virgo, supporting some extra benevolence and communication. Without Rahu’s drishti (gaze) on Venus, there will be more clarity, focus and strength with relationships. Mars and Venus are a dynamic pair, often bringing great courage with co-creation and connection. This 25 day transit of Venus will bring more creative courage and dynamism with hands, the arts, expression and connection.
Mars in Aquarius.
Mars moves to Aquarius on December 11at 5:54 a.m. MST, joining Ketu here. No doubt there will be an intensification of the rocky past few months as Mars nears exact conjunction with Ketu on December 27. There will be some final release and forced letting go as a result of these two fiery planets conjoining in the sign of duality. Your body will be an important resource for navigating the extreme landscape. Stay close to the body and breath.
Full Moon in Taurus.
The December full moon is on the 13 at 5:05 p.m. MST. The moon is in its mulitrikona sign, a great place for emotional expression and connection. Full moon in Taurus and Mrigashirsha nakshatra encourages reaching and extending into new territory and provides resources in the coming cycle. Branch out and seek new nectar for your soul. Attract more of what you need. Go out on a limb and try something new. Be bold in your action steps.
Sun in Sagittarius.
Sun shifts out of Saturn’s energy, away from conjunction with this heavy, planet of grief, on December 15, arriving in Sagittarius at 8:02 a.m. MST. As our light source lands in this fire sign, he enters the challenging gandanta of Mula. This is an important two-week period for the masculine, ego and sense of empowerment. Expect deep transformation, uprooting and release on the level of your masculine self—-as well as with male relationships in your life.
The first day of winter for the Northern Hemisphere (first day of Summer for the Southern Hemisphere) arrives on December 21 at 3:44 a.m. MST. Winter Solstice marks a powerful turning point, beginning the silence of the season. It is the darkest day of the year with the least amount of sunlight, creating the longest night. It is a still point in the season, inviting deep silence, pause and reflection on the past seasons.

Venus in Aquarius.
Just before the new moon On December 28, Venus moves to Aquarius, a friend’s sign that is synonymous with duality. This air sign is ruled by both Rahu and Saturn. Venus joins Ketu and Mars here, while Rahu gives his gaze seven houses away. This is a highly transformational cycle for Venus—the planet of love, beauty, the feminine and all creative acts. Your ability to transform and change, will determine the success you experience in the weeks ahead.
