This week’s full moon in Pisces is an enigma!
Close to Autumn Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and Spring Equinox south of the Equator, September’s full moon it is actually a mini-moon, the most distant this year, but will appear close to the horizon, big and orange as it rises almost right past sunset!
So with all those contradictions, under the watery influence of Pisces, what can we expect?
This moon is laying the foundations for the way we function in the world after 2019. It sets a tone or vibration for our next steps.
On the 13th, in the vibration of the number eight, we reach a harmony, an octave that is the end of one thing and the beginning of another. It speaks to us of renewal, a birthing of new ideas, visions, and ways of being.
Eight is very much a lunar number, there are eight phases of the moon’s cycle: New Moon, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous, Last Quarter, Waning Crescent.
Eternity is an expression of eightness, with the cycle of birth, life, death, and rebirth so evident in nature.
This moon you may feel some uncertainty as the footing shifts beneath us. When arriving at the end of a season (reflected back to us in the shift from summer to autumn, or winter to spring, depending on where you live), we have a moment to pause and reflect, and even feel sorrow or grief. As you leave a vibration that suited you perfectly until now, the grief that you experience arises from the “not knowing.” We cannot always see the future clearly even as we must step into it. Who will we be in this new understanding of ourselves?
But there won’t be much time to ponder because as September 14th dawns, we are suddenly propelled over the threshold, and suddenly we are there!
The number nine frequency is one which leads us into humanitarianism and alignment with community.
This is our calling going forward: practicing loving-kindness (Maitri in the Buddhist tradition) with ourselves and others, being globally conscious and responsible, compassionate toward all life forms, and expanding into service.
If you are thinking of setting up a heart/soul-based business, this is the perfect timing.
If you are thinking of embarking on an adventure or seeking transformation, make concrete plans.
If you are thinking of clearing away much of what you have held onto physically and emotionally, begin the process.
If you are going to dedicate a year to self-reflection, self-growth, honor those instincts now.
If there is a relationship you have been sitting on the fence about, make a decision. There are no wrong decisions by the way, all are the perfect medicine for the time we are in. We live, we learn, that is all.
This moon suggests action—not action to be productive in the usual sense of the word—but soul-aligned action that takes you beyond the mundane of life and into the numinous. There is no “must” in the Universe, of course. We have the choice to remain in what we are intimately familiar with, or we can take that leap of faith and make ready for transition. This moon is simply creating a container for our decision.
The overriding question of this magical full moon is, Am I present to my life? That is going to be vital to creating the life you desire as 2019 wanes and 2020 edges closer.
Here are a few questions you can ask yourself as a quick check in:
- Am I sitting in harmony with myself and others, or judging myself through judging them?
- Am I connecting with gratitude to the present moment, or am I worrying about tomorrows or regretting yesterdays?
- Am I holding on to old stories that are running my life, or am I willing to rewrite my narratives?
- Am I willing to spend time in silence to access my Inner Guide and the present moment?
- Am I in alignment with my soul by practicing self-awareness, or have I created distractions that keep me from stepping into my purpose?
The full moon in Pisces illuminates. It is fertile with ideas, intuitive yet sensitive. It will bring out deep feelings, a desire for creating good in the world, but it can also bring out procrastination and fear of confrontation.
The key to navigating the Harvest Moon with grace is to be brutally honest with ourselves about our intentions, what we excel at, and where we need support.
Moon Mantra: My life is a miracle and flows with ease when I am fearlessly authentic.
