I normally don’t buy magazines.
The grocery store I shop at has a loyalty program. After spending so much, Mr. Computer would ask if I would like to apply a discount earned towards the current purchase. I never kept track of this perk, I just enjoyed the surprise.
One shopping trip, on the magazine rack by the self checkout, I noticed a special issue of National Geographic entitled “Everyday Mindfulness – finding focus, calm and joy”. It looked interesting. I flinched when I noticed the $14 cover price, as I carefully put it back.
For the next few days I pondered if I should make that purchase. I made the decision the next time I went shopping I would buy this magazine. Later, I went into the store to pick up a few things, walked around and nothing jumped into my basket. At the self checkout, I picked up this magazine, my only purchase. I entered my shoppers loyalty ID, scanned my only item and up popped the question asking if I would like to apply the $5 reward towards my purchase?
As I agreed to the discounted offer, I smiled with gratitude at the mini synchronicity zap that just happened and went happily on my way.
