I haven’t written anything in a long while on my climate series and have been “prayer-alyzed on where to even begin to address the next piece.
Until that is ready I am opening myself up to the whispers of the land and the AnSiSTARS and this is what I felt compelled to share with you now on the topic of embracing ourselves as we age in mind, body and spirit and giving ourselves the grace to make ourselves and our healing work a priority so we can better serve the All.
I am
That old woman sitting in her rocking chair on her front porch watching the parade of birds display their rainbow of crimson, bright yellow, indigo blue, subtle beiges mixed with white, jet black, and browns; as their 4-legged forest dwellers follow to hoard what is left.
I am that old woman who gives herself permission to pause and forget about her to do list for awhile, because watching the flowers bloom, the trees green up and leaf out in the spring morning is the most important thing she must do today before all else.
I am that old woman who sits with the cat on her lap and rocks him as she pets him and tells him what a good boy he is, while we listen to the chatter of the forest.
I am that old woman who is no longer ashamed of walking around bare in front of her beloved and embraces her curves, as her body is healthy and strong and has served her well for many years. I am grateful for my healthy body.
I am that old woman who remembers a time in her life when she had so many balls in the air these moments were inconceivable to her. When she looks in the mirror that image is sometimes gone.
I am that old woman who still carries the spirit of her younger self within her, regardless of her reflection, and I love her more deeply today than ever before for her becoming.
Are you that old woman too?
