There are days like this, when I remember you tangled up in me.
And waking up to your skin on my skin,
Your breath in my hair.
My beating heart in your hands.
The sleep just releasing your eyes open.
Your eyes.
You grab my hand.
I inhale sharply.
Your touch takes my breath away.
I inch toward the hope I always held that I would find you.
And believe I found it.
This love.
But then
I remember…
You’re gone now.
My heart wrenches
As I struggle to claim it back.
How did we get here?
I grope for you
But you never come.
You never will.
This love
Is no longer mine.
But wait
It never was.
How can I ever forget you?
And this I know, before the question even steps off my lips…
I won’t.
