How to write peace?
a still pool
an ocean depth
a stolid cliff
a seagull’s swoop
or joy?
a field of clover, quivering
a gaggle of finches, industrious
a burst of sunrise
a seagull’s call
or sorrow?
a cliff’s depth below
a pain at grief’s center
the heart on the sleeve
intimately awe-full
or despair?
a thick grey cloud
obscuring the pool
the ocean
the cliff
the seagull
the sunrise
or hope?
a breeze
pushing the cold grey mist away
a glimpse of the tip of the seagull’s tail feather
a pebble from the cliff
rippling the pool
nearly unregistered by the vast ocean
of peace.
