This is my post about being single and about valentines day, a combo.

Hurrah for the singletons!! I am single and have been single for over 4 years and am a single mum.

I know a lot of single people don’t like valentines day, and let’s face it if you are single on Valentine’s day it is usually a day that makes you feel terrible and the worst to be single and alone on Valentine’s day. A bit like the delectable ms Jones “hurrah for the singletons and boo to the smug marrieds”.   Not that I am against marriage for other people. Not for me,” I have been there, done that and got the T shirt ” as the expression goes.

But as they also say “don’t sweat the small stuff”.

Ladies, Gents take heart literally, take heed if you are single this valentines day. Celebrate your single fabulousness, and know sometimes it is good to be single to even find yourself. Or basically, just to be simply single.

I would also rather be single than be in a terrible relationship, or be with a terrible man .

Or if you are a man better to be single than be with a terrible woman.

Sometimes, you need time to get over someone .  I also think you need grieving time to get over people or relationships.   Stages of grief.  A relationship has died and you mourn it, even when you are both alive.

Let’s face it if you are in a relationship for a while, and it gets awful, you need time to recover to be single. Or if it gets bad at the end, you need time to be single to get over it.

A bit like how things get viewed in literature and rom com’s . But this is my own stance on things.

So, if you are free this valentines day, you could always go to the singles valentines day nights at the bars. Or you could buy yourself a load of lovely food, pop open the wine or a few drinks, buy yourself some yummy chocolates and treats and guzzle them, or buy yourself flowers.  Celebrate yourself, why not??

I am stoney broke, so can’t do that but if I wasn’t I do that some years with my kids. I am probably even entering spinster territory this year, as this marks my 5th year of being single (December). My ex burned me and we were together too long. I also am a single mum and I needed time to get over the hell of it all. I would have loved to have gone travelling to heal myself even like the delectable Liz Gilbert but very poor. I also needed time to get over my ex boyfriend before my ex husband. Sometimes moving on too quickly is a mistake. They say ” you live and learn. ”
