A Good Mother is Never Dead
Madam De cannot be gone with yesterday.
How can this brave woman be forgotten?
In all her beauty, she shines as she walks
Over the hills, crosses the mountains and comes down
To the deep inlet full with a huge variety of orange and mango trees in blossom.
The sunset is shining gold against the tall green mountains overlooking
The calm and turquoise water of the Caribbean.
Madam De lives on. She lives long and is present in all of her children.
She is alive in her hard labor and in the example she set.
Madam De’s words, actions, and wisdom make time stand still
Madam De reaches from glory with strong hands that lift her basket
Gently placed on the twòkèt or wreath over her head.
What a superb balancing act! She can walk miles without touching her load.
