Busy buying lots of little cupcakes today, In fact more accurately described as a whack load of cupcakes for my youngest, little birthday party . A huge amount of cupcakes. No time to make the cakes, so bought loads.
As they say on Tv ” when all else fails buy the cake or cakes at marks and spencer” (woolworths in some countries). I.e for special occasions buy the cakes from m & s (woolworths in many other countries) as they say in calender girls. Or if you are inept at making cakes I.e for the school bake sale go buy them at m & s or woolworths ha ha ….
That is if you are in a country where you have bake sale. They do over here. Actually make nice cakes and decorate them well, if I have the time and can afford all the ingredients. And anyone who has to go to a bake sale will tell you how important it is!!!
A late birthday party, as she had a big birthday a while ago with me and her sister, and the coolest cake I have ever made an unicorn cake.
Lots of cupcakes bought today for her school party. On the way out from the shops, my kids started going berserk and running around the shops causing mayhem. They got temporarily distracted by the valentines day displays in the shops and went “yuck valentines day!!!! ”
A day without meaning for me as a singleton.
Anyways, then on the way out to the car park, both my kids insisted on jumping in every single puddle and one of them had taken her shoes off. V pleased with themselves and wet soggy feet!!! Oh well, kids like puddles!!
As a mum, I could be seen as a slummy mummy rather than a yummy mummy. I’m not one of the alpha pushy mums who wants to be on the pta. I’m the kind of mum who wears leggings and yoga pants a helluva lot and dresses sometimes in the hot African weather. I miss Europe loads as an European. I often dream of ways to make my life easier but without help, v v hard….
All this cake stuff reminds me of Alison Reddy in ‘ I don’t know how she does it.’ Who is a real mum and writer of this book and is a movie made of the book. One of my fav mum books and mum movies. Anyways, In the movie. Alison has to give something for the bake sale. She goes to the grocery store and buys a freshly made apple pie. Puts it another dish and takes it to the bake sale. Pretending she baked it and with a dusting of icing sugar on top.
Just like in bad mums, when Amy takes store bought doughnuts to the bake sale. After gwendoline has insisted that all the mums bring home baked goods!!!! Another great mum movie.
