Reiki is a Japanese mode of Energy Healing. It literally translates as:
REI= Universal Consciousness
KI= Vital energy or Life Force
If you know a lot about Reiki or have no idea you can try this and see how you feel. All you need is yourself and your bed to try this exercise.
I love doing this at night but you can do it whenever really. Whenever I am feeling a little lost or incomplete I like to use this method to come back to myself and stay there.
I think in order for this to work we must first get our minds around the fact everything is energy. Me, you, that plant over there, the sky, is all energy in different forms. Imagine all experiences, food, products carrying a certain energy into us, that energy then becomes a part of you. So thats why its called energy healing; We are trying to heal any unwanted or negative energy to restore harmonious balance within ourselves.
Info: In Reiki and other energy healing modalities the healers will work with our Chakras. These are key energy points on our body. I will use the Chakras technical names but also below clearly explain where they are on your body.
CROWN CHAKRA- Top of your head.
THIRD EYE CHAKRA- Middle of your forehead.
THROAT CHAKRA- Your Throat.
HEART CHAKRA- Your Heart.
SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA- Just under your ribs.
SACRAL CHAKRA- A couple of inches below your belly button.
ROOT CHAKRA- In between your legs.
Practice: So before we start the healing steps just take a second to find all those places on your body, with Reiki you should gently place both hands cupped in the spot or hover hands just above.
The self healing is a way of balancing our your own energy and regaining internal peace. Using your hands you are going to channel energy from the universe into your Chakras. Cool eh?
1. Lay down and take a few breaths to just come into your space and try to find a sense of compassion and love for yourself.
2. Starting with the CROWN CHAKRA and work your way down in order to the ROOT CHAKRA. Give your hands and mind a minute placed on each Chakra, try to focus on gathering energy and through your hands radiating new energy into each Chakra.
Healing Steps: When the practice is complete you can start the balance healing. This means starting with one hand on the CROWN CHAKRA and one hand on the ROOT CHAKRA. The idea being to work your way towards your HEART CHAKRA.
1. Lay down and come to your senses focusing on love and compassion for yourself and everyone in your life.
2. One Hand on the CROWN CHAKRA- Top of the head + one hand on your ROOT CHAKRA- In between your legs. Stay 2 Mins.
3. One hand on your THIRD EYE CHAKRA- Middle of your forehead + One hand on your SACRAL CHAKRA- Couple of inches below your belly button. Stay 2 Mins.
4. One hand on your THROAT CHAKRA- Your throat and one hand on your SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA- Just under your ribs. Stay 2 Mins.
5. Finally both hands on your HEART CHAKRA- Your heart. Stay as long as you like.
