For The Win
Seven years ago I wasn’t in this seat.
Figuring then, I had nothing to beat.
At that time, it was my father and brother I committed;
For their alcohol abuse required more than they ever admitted.
Now I sit here (detoxing) with the same addiction.
Wanting, like my late McKees, to throw a conniption.
But I think of my son and where we are from where we’ve been…..
This time, I myself, am in it for the win.
Because, like Trevor, the next drink will be my last.
I’m only 32 and I’m not ready to #%^*!?^ pass.
For these mountains I will climb and these hurdles I will jump,
To ensure my son never has this burden of a hump.
