Happy Guru Purnima! The night of full moon celebrating our Gurus.
We all go through our share of happiness, sorrow, joy, pain and everything in between. In my more than four decades of spending time on earth I have learnt that life is neither fair, nor totally unfair. It is what it is and it really depends on us to make the most and best of it. Yes it sucks sometimes and other times it give you immense pleasure. It is full of contradictions.
When we find ourselves tangled in all such contradictions and when life seems to become a whirlpool instead of a gentle lake, we start looking for answers. Don’t we all have a “why me” moment?
Why did this happen to me/my family/my loved one? Probably it is one of the most unanswerable questions of all times and yet we find struggling with it.
I have myself had some share of “Why me.” When we get to questions that we don’t have answers for, we start seeking it elsewhere. After all human beings crave resolution- we need that closure. Lack of it creates stress.
I believe that we all have wisdom. However when we are in a complicated situation we often are not able to use it. Haven’t you found a simple solution or answer to your friends’ problems? We all have. But when it comes to our lives, when we seek that solution, it somehow escapes us.
This is where a Guru comes in. Finding peace amidst chaos, finding happiness amidst suffering is what a Guru can do for us. When our life goes as planned, life seems simple. When it gets complicated and becomes too much to handle, we need support.
Guru is that shinning full moon(purnima)- bringing our life to a full circle. Presence of Guru completes our lives. Guru brings us inner peace, happiness and guides us through the darkest phases of our lives. Guru is the one who removes darkness- Gu means darkness and Ru means remover.
Just like Purnima Full Moon reflects the sun rays falling on it, Guru reflects wisdom. Guru is the positive force, a divine energy guiding us through our challenges both external and internal.
This Guru Purnima let us reflect on this thought.
Here is a popular Mantra for Guru:
Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheshwara
Guru Sakshat Para Brahma, Tasmai Sri Guruve Namaha
Guru is the creator(Brahma)- creating wisdom, preserver(Vishnu) -preserving life force, Destroyer ( Mashesh/Shiva) destroying ignorance, sufferings.
Guru is within us (Sakshat) but also beyond the infinite (Para Brahma). I bow to such Guru.

With this, I bow to all the Gurus of my life including all of you who have enriched my life with your divine presence.
Namaste.
