It’s the days when the body aches, the desire is low, you feel tired, and you feel weak, and those are the days when champions train.”

Weight lifting is kind of OXYGEN to the body:

Being a girl for whom lifting weights have always been on hit list even rather than doing exercises on the machines. It is something which always makes me feel satisfied, happy and very confident about myself. As gym freak person I cannot start my day without lifting weights. “TRAIN LIKE A BEAST AND LOOK LIKE A BEAUTY”. Such inspirational words always motivate me to hit the gym harder and face my fears.

I get up 6 in the morning wear my sports bra and tighten my ponytail and hit the gym. When I reach the weightlifting area of the gym and start lifting weight than some boys start staring at me. They ask me, why I lift weight and always try to convince me that I should stop lifting them because it will make me look bulky. They believe that after few years my body may look like a man. But on the side, if I m doing cardio, running on the treadmill for 30 minutes which will only shed my extra kilos, simultaneously, will muck up the shape of my body only.

No doubt, there are so many girls and women who come to the gym on regular basis but there is always one thing that bothers me that why only a few of them lift heavy weights. Even in my case, only 2 girls in my gym lift weights. Are women not aware of their strengths or they themselves feel that weight lifting is not their cup of tea?

CANDID TALK with GAURAV NEGI:
So, all these experiences and questions have put me into the deep thinking that Still, women lifting weights is a taboo? So, I decided to discuss this serious issue with REHAB YOGA FOUNDER ‘GAURAV NEGI’ who is a renowned Award-Winning International Professional in India. He is involved in various fitness and rehab yoga programs, exercises functional training from last 10 years.

My first question to him was that does lifting heavy weights has any impact on our mood? He clearly explains to me that when we lift heavy weight our body realizes the hormone called ‘ENDORPHINS’ the same hormone which is realized by the body when we smile. Lifting weights uplift our bad mood and make us feel relaxed and happy due to Endorphins. Adding to this he told that lifting weights will never make women body look bulky rather it helps them to feel strong from inside as well as from outside.

He quoted by saying that the myth the women should not lift heavy is perpetuated by women who fear work and men who fear women. These words of GAURAV NEGI filled me with more confidence and zeal of lifting heavy weights. He elaborated that why women MUST LIFT heavyweights in below-mentioned points:

Reasons Women Should not afraid of lifting Heavy Weight:

• TONES THE BODY: It is only by lifting dumbbells, weights, by doing squats, lunges, dead-lifts and many more. Losing Weight and Tone Up is not the same Thing. Cardio can help Us to lose weight but We must lift weight for tone Up the Body. Having lifted and round shoulders, walking with all the grace and confidence in the body. It is a transformation of a woman into a lady.

• Enhance Strength without Bulking: More we lift stronger we get. Lifting weight improves our muscle. Better muscle helps us to do our regular work easily. Imagine yourself as a complete woman who doesn’t need the help of other to lift things from groceries to Car in one Go.

It is a myth that weight lift will make women bulky. According to the science, women don’t have the testosterone to build muscle like men. It is 10 to 30 times lesser than men.

• BONE DENSITY: As we age, we lose bone mass. By lifting weights, it helps up to prevent the bone loss and conditions like osteoporosis. It also makes our bone stronger and helps us lift heavier things in our daily routine without being dependent on others. Research has also shown weight training can increase bone density to create a strong and healthy spine.

• PREVENT INJURY: After the hard training of lifting a weight, we will be a stronger version of yourself. So, stronger muscles promote protection and stability to the joints which will help us to prevent injuries while doing exercise.

• Burn More Calories: Weight lifting helps to lose more fat. Thousands of Studies found that if an average woman who strength trains two to three times a week for two months will gain nearly two pounds of muscle and will lose 3.5 pounds of fat.

• Confidence Build Up: Weight lifting will not make us confident from the inside. It is something that one can feel from outside too. The grace of the body will show that how strong and confident as a woman we are. It changes the way we look and simultaneously it also helps us to polish our overall personality.

A great Personality makes us stand out of the box. Wherever we go, people listen to us carefully and with respect. This leads us to be a responsible leader, whose confidence automatically boost up.

I still remember, in an event the anchor was not feeling well to shower her magical words on stage. Her ‘NO TO STAGE’ made the crew to look at me with a ray of hope. I understood what they want. I am not an anchor but still, I handled that stage, with no mistake. People thanked me in a million with happy faces.

Our Life may push us several times into the web of strange hurdles. That is our confidence which helps us to lift them. I say, “Lift Weight and it will lift your Problems.”

That Feeling of our muscles getting strengthened, we are boosting our metabolism hence developing a definition: all those works together as a powerful confidence-booster.

We are much stronger than we think. It also makes us realize that as humans we do
not have any limits because it only requires a huge amount of confidence, strength and courage to take the initial step. Becoming stronger and faster at weightlifting overtimes increases our self-esteem as well as. It changes the way we perceive things and simultaneously helps us to the polish our overall personality.

CONCLUSION:
So, doing hardcore training and lifting weights is less to do with losing or gaining weight but it is more about making our stay fit, active and energetic throughout our day. Simultaneously, making us learn some life lessons and building confidence and strength inside us.
So, women do not doubt your potential. We all are way stronger than we think. Get up early in the morning. wear the sports gear and hit the gym. Put your feet in the gym like a BOSS.

BE STRONG, BE YOU AND LIFT THE HEAVYWEIGHTS.
