It’s much more likely to found justification in the belief that discovery can trump instruction. I agree. Uncovering, discovering, and even recovering, require an element of revolution. Breaking the shell, is every chicken’s ticket to freedom. If this weren’t so, eggshells would be make of titanium and as thick as bricks. I love the prairie dogs and their treatment of the female who sneaks away from the clan to mate with a male from a rival clan. Fortunately it ends better than Shakespeare. Elephants have to behave the same way to secure a beneficial gene pool.  We romantics like to think that elephant society is matriarchal, but it’s not. Bull elephants compete against each other, not against the female.  In reality, elephant culture is closer to sharia law then it is to Western ideas of society from what I can tell.  Elephant societies don’t have the luxury of widely varying Social positions. Rebels don’t live long enough to reproduce in the wild. And it’s unlikely they will live long here in elephant journal land either.
