4 Tips to Nourish Your Sensitive Skin from the Inside Out.

Having sensitive skin can be both a blessing and a curse depending on your approach to skincare. While it’s true that you will always struggle with finding the right products and staying on top of what your skin needs, there are plenty of things you can do internally to help balance out the effects of sensitive skin from the inside out. Here are 5 tips to help you nourish your sensitive skin from the inside out.

1) Drink Water

Dehydration is a major cause of sensitive skin. The increased risk for acne and other rashes is one of many reasons why it’s important to keep your skin properly hydrated by drinking eight glasses of water every day. Not only will your body look better, but you’ll find that your complexion looks clearer, too. Plus, those who drink enough water report less acne breakouts. So drink up! It’s good for you inside and out.

2) Eat Foods Rich in Omega 3 and 6

These essential fatty acids are critical for healthy skin and hair. They reduce inflammation and have been shown to improve dry, damaged skin and hair. Try including two servings of fish each week in your diet or taking a fish oil supplement. Many women find they get better results with supplements than eating fish, especially if they don’t like seafood!

3) Go Organic When Possible

Choose organic foods whenever possible. Many conventional farming practices involve using pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides that are harmful to your skin. By eating organic fruits and vegetables as much as possible, you’ll eliminate or at least minimize your exposure to these chemicals. The biggest benefit? Organic foods contain higher levels of antioxidants than conventionally grown produce does.

4) Get Enough Zinc

Zinc deficiency can cause several issues for your skin, including dandruff and acne. So make sure you’re getting enough of it by adding zinc-rich foods such as red meat and sunflower seeds to your diet. You may also want to take a supplement. As I have gut issues, I take my supplement with Vitamin C for good absorption.
