Dear Friends,

With the loss of its major donor, Light of Berotsana also lost the services of Jessie Friedman, whose position as the group’s Executive Director terminated on the last day of August in 2009. Similarly, Laurie Hawley’s work with Light of Berotsana ended in May of 2009. Additionally, in December of 2009, Jules Levinson parted ways with Sangye Khandro and Chöying Namgyal. Jules hopes to begin building a new 501(c)3 not-for-profit in the coming months.

The two of us want to acknowledge the support you have given us over the past decade and offer our thanks for your kindness and generosity. Without your contribution and participation, none of what we have done would have been possible to do. We have felt a sense of purpose and honor in serving Buddhist practitioners by translating books and oral discourse into the English language, conceiving and executing the Conference of Translators we hosted in Colorado in the fall of 2008, encouraging some initial steps toward the formation of an international guild of translators, and in general attempting to shine on light on the centrality of translation in the transmission of Buddhadharma from one civilization to another. None of this could have been undertaken without your passion, dedication, and companionship. We thank you for lending yourselves to our efforts.

May the teachings of the Buddha put deep roots into new soil.
