Not since an armless Luke screamed at his father “I’ll never join you” has good and evil met in such a direct manner. I’m there:
Via our Daily Camera, excerpt:
…the booking of the political rivals comes after some CU regents raised concerns about whether paid campus speakers are diverse in their ideologies. But the student leaders who booked Dean and Rove say their choice in speakers this year is a reflection of their group’s own values. The debate over current events will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at CU’s Macky Auditorium in Boulder. CU Chancellor Phil DiStefano will moderate the debate, which is sponsored by CU’s student-run Distinguished Speakers Board.
Juliet Kroll, head of the board, said it’s the group’s first event with two speakers. The student-funded group is excited to bring campus speakers who will provide insight from both sides of the political spectrum and encourage a debate, she said.
“We thought it was crucial to bring both of them,” Kroll said. “We would not have brought either speaker alone.”
Rove and Dean will debate topics including health care and education reform. Questions addressed to both speakers during the debate will be randomly selected from e-mail suggestions sent to the Distinguished Speakers Board at [email protected].
CU-Boulder students can purchase general admission tickets for $1 at The Connection, located on the first floor of the University Memorial Center.
The public can purchase general community tickets for $15…
