A man in China sued his ex-wife for having ugly kids.

He even had DNA testing to prove they weren’t his kids, but the DNA came back proving they were indeed his children.

He sued his ex-wife and won $120,000. The children were basically “officially,” deemed ugly by the courts. Why he won was the fact his ex-wife had $100,000 worth of plastic surgery before he met her and because she failed to tell him, the courts ruled in his favor. They stated that he married her under false pretenses, thinking she looked a certain way when really she naturally looked like their “ugly” children.

What concerns me, is not that she had plastic surgery—she has a right to augment her body and that she didn’t tell him doesn’t bother me so much either—it was an aspect of herself she wanted to bury. Her not telling him shows the kind of relationship they had.

I have the most sympathy for that face she wanted to leave behind, the one she hid through surgery, the one that is now out in the world for everyone to see.

I feel for her and the children. I’m sure the mother herself was ridiculed as a child, just as her children might now be. All one has to remember is that awful saying that kids chanted to other not as “traditionally pretty,” kids when I was a kid, “U.G.L.Y. You ain’t got no alibi, you ugly, you ugly.”

These children have not only been humiliated by the father, the courts and plastered all over media as being “ugly,” they will now, also, have to live with the effects of this for the rest of their lives.

I can only imagine how cruel the kids at their school are to them now that their father sued their mother for producing ugly kids, and won.

This is one of those incidences where other cultures blow my mind, and though I try not to put on my western glasses when viewing this story, I cannot help but feel pain for the wife, for feeling ugly herself, enough to get plastic surgery, the pressures that led up to the surgery, and her children.

The children will now have to live a life feeling ugly, inadequate, and carry around the fact their father, even though they are his, too, thinks they are ugly.
