Today I am Tired. {Poem}

Tired

Usually, I go. I run. I zip. I am busy.

But today I am tired.

Last week I crossed items off of lists and ran errands and moved mountains and told tales and made meals and entertained.

But today I am tired.

Yesterday I had meetings and deadlines and appointments and commitments; I was accountable.

But today I am tired.

Most weekends are scheduled tightly, events to attend or host, friends to see, projects to complete, moves to be made, trips to take: Life at warp speed.

But today I am tired.

I don’t like to stop. I ignore my body when it asks me to pause. I push beyond my own limits. I make things happen. I can. I do. I am. I will.

But today I am tired.

Today I want to empty, not fill. I want to listen, not talk.

I don’t want to go. I don’t want to see. I don’t want to know.

Today I want to lay in my bed and just sleep.

I want reprieve. I want stillness, I want quiet. I want peace. I want space. I want me.

Today I am tired.

So I’ll rest.
