There once lived a teeny, tiny little caterpillar. It was so deeply ashamed, that it surrounded itself in a tightly woven blanket… of darkness.
In the darkness that entombed the small creature, it felt safe. Starving itself of love, for no-one could ever possibly love the ugliness that is a tiny caterpillar. NO! Said the caterpillar…no to food. No to water. No to life.
The caterpillar feared, deep down inside, that its’ armour – so steadily built – would, for sure, consume it, and both cocoon and caterpillar would actually disappear. The little caterpillar wondered, in the darkness, if in fact that is what it really wanted?!
Bewildered, little caterpillar closed its’ eyes and succumbed to the darkness of sleep and of night.
The most incredible thing happened. The leaf, that caterpillar had clawed into in order to hide from the universe, began to shake…and shake…and SHAKE until, BOOM!
The caterpillar could no longer hide from the universe. It awoke, suddenly, and all it could see was the brightest light it could ever have imagined. Suddenly, it saw blue, the most amazing blue – seemingly enveloping it. It felt like a gentle breeze.
Hang on, a breeze? It had not felt a breeze for so very long. Suddenly, there was the most beautiful song: a BLUE BIRD! Singing!
The creature opened its’ eyes, looked down, and very nearly fell out of the sky! The old, haggard leaf lay far down below. Its’ job done! For free, at last, is the most glorious butterfly…flying FREE.
