Congrats from the #yogadork community to the former first daughter Chelsea Clinton!
Yes, we know she’s looking grown up and beautiful. And yes we know she’s just tied the knot with Marc Mezvinsky in a fancy schamnzy wedding complete with vegan fare. All of this is great—but yoga workshop enthusiasts and fans of arm balance instruction are sending our kudos to Ms. Clinton specifically for picking a very yogic location to take the martial plunge.
Yoga practioners and teachers have long known about Rheinbeck, NY because of the mecca of Holistic Studies known as Omega Center. Students of yoga superstars like Sadie Nardini, Rodney Yee and Dharma Mittra have been flipping their dogs and chanting with their collective sanghas (communities) in this hamlet since it opened in 1977. Omega hosts workshops spanning a broad range of healing topics from yoga, to Buddhism and Shamanism. For example, at the same time Chelsea and Marc were dancing to their first song after some tempe appetizers, ele-friend Robert Thurman was taking part in a workshop on The Wisdom of Anger.

Poem read at the Wedding:
The life that I have
Is all that I have
And the life that I have
Is yoursThe love that I have
Of the life that I have
Is yours and yours and yours.A sleep I shall have
A rest I shall have
Yet death will be but a pause
For the peace of my years
In the long green grass
Will be yours and yours and yours.~ Leo Marks
One cannot help but wonder if Chelsea and her bridesmaids spent the days before getting vegan pedicures with No Miss nail polish. Or, perhaps they instead allowed themselves some sacred healing before the big event at one of Omega’s workshops just for women. The Clinton family did not reveal these details in their announcement of the Chelsea’s betrothal.
No matter which helped her prep for her big day, we #yogadorks do a collective Adho Mukha Vrksasana in honor of their marriage and hope to see them on the mat at Omega soon!
