I was told that when you flush out the toxic, processed food that makes up the majority of the American diet you start to crave them less. And as my week is coming to an end I definitely see this. It’s not that I crave my salads and fruit smoothies more than I did when I started the project. I just, in general, have less of an appetite and interest in food.
I don’t follow my weight neurotically, but it looks like I lost four pounds in the past six days. I don’t know if indicates good health or malnutrition.
I was also told that I would get more energy. At first this was not true. Getting out of bed every morning was a struggle and while I could still run and do yoga every day I felt drained.
But today, after only 5 hours of sleep I woke up early enough on my own for the 8:00 am yoga class that I have tried and failed to make it to for weeks. Normally I take any opportunity to take a nap. Today I was productive and happy all day long.
What is happening to me?!
Is what everyone says happens to them happening to me? Or am I just having a good day and attributing it all to my diet. Is this a placebo or are raw foodies right?
Is the food of the earth the key to a happy, successful life? Have been unknowingly consuming poison three times a day for our entire lives? Maybe a week isn’t long enough to find out….
