Death called tonight
With a note to tomorrow:
Mom will die soon.
Grace hides my heart
As fear cries though
Love knows she will be alright.
Tears crept when I wasn’t looking.
Sadness baptized me in what
I know must come—never ready
For the final exhale, I keep on breathing
The hope mom gave, compassion’s
Lace to her forever embrace.
I know her form must go.
The heart she gave will always show in me,
And in her passing what I know is love
Never ends—life takes what it gives
And gives what it takes—the love of mom
Will never find a grave as long as I live
To tell of a fullness given through her dying days.
