Dear Anthony,

I’m a vegetarian, or a slacker vegan. I just read the NY Times Magazine’s essay contest winners on the topic “Is It Ethical to Eat Meat?” 

To say the winning essay was lame would be, well, lame.

The article said it was noted that “factory farming, which accounts for 99 percent of the meat eaten in America, is not ethical.”

Anyway the essays, winner and runners up, failed completely to make a good ethical case for it. Can you give me three ethical reasons it’s okay to eat meat?
