Visioning vs. Voting. Get off your Mat and take Action.
In District 33—the Westside of Los Angeles—we are visionaries; we are revolutionaries; we are groundbreakers; instigators; iconoclasts.
We effect change.
In fact, we embrace change like nobody’s business, because we know that there is a natural flow to the Universe, and that in order to live a fully realized and authentic life, we must be willing to let go of that which no longer serves, thereby creating space for a new way.
When U.S. Congressman Henry Waxman stepped aside after four decades of dedicated service, he opened a door for the entry of a new voice. He created space for a new way. For so many of us, that new voice is found in Marianne Williamson.
If you want to know more about why Marianne is such an important candidate, visit her highly informative website.
Here are my Top Three reasons why Marianne Williamson should be in Washington:
1. Because she is a voice of clarity and equanimity by running as an Independent unencumbered by corporate special interests and political party agendas.
2. Because humanity’s well-being demands that we integrate wise, feminine leadership into government.
3. Because she makes Love her bottom line (not fear; not money; not ego). And that’s missing from world leadership. And it matters.
Here at the epicenter of yoga in the Western world, we have embraced the courageous endeavor of the pursuit of a better life through an expansion of consciousness—accepting and “being with” all that arises in the process—the light, the shadow, the bliss, the suffering.
There are hills and valleys on this path, sometimes it’s cakewalk, but it often feels treacherous. And yet, we stay with it. We stay because we know that even in the darkest moments when everything feels broken, there is a light accessible to each of us.
While we are quick to quote Leonard Cohen channeling Rumi, “There’s a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in,” somehow we have allowed ourselves the excuse of not remaining with our political process because it has felt broken.
So let us bring what we know and who we are to the world beyond the yoga studio and our personal practice. We cannot do this by vision alone. This is not a time for savasana. This is not a time for stillness.
Get off your mat, get off your cushion, and go vote. Let the depth of your practice and the wisdom it brings fuel your decision to actively manifest a new way in Washington, and in the world. It’s time to let the light in.
Vote. For Marianne. For Love.
