Come here for moment. I need to talk to you.
Pull up a chair, get close to the fire. There’s something you need to know.
Yes.
There’s something we need to talk about.
Look up.
Look up again.
Can you see the stars?
The vast sky?
Are you amazed by how big it is out there? The infinite and expansive universe?
The incredible miracle of Earth? The existence of trees? Rocks? Cars? Civilization?
How did you get here?
To this exact moment?
Breathe.
Take an inhale.
Exhale.
Pause.
How did you get here?
Did you fall apart a little once?
Have you witnessed something or someone fall apart a little?
A lot?
Did it touch something in you?
This temporary, decaying universe.
Can you find beauty
In that dirt road?
Dying town?
Cracked wall?
Not perfect and yet it be.
Can you sense the fragility?
Find the dandelions in the pavement,
The smiling child weathering the storm,
The gap-toothed wise man in perfect lotus form
And he says,
“Find that fragility.
Find what makes you feel fragile.
Celebrate it.
Because this,
And so I find myself
mesmerized by the human condition, and
caught in this understanding that love and joy live in fragility
and fragility underpins everything.
