In my last post, “At First, I thought Jon Stewart was Kidding. He wasn’t,”
I proposed a Constitutional amendment requiring all candidates for the three branches of the federal government to submit to psych testing in order for the American populace to get a perspective on their mental health and general intelligence not in evidence via campaign trail rhetoric and polished media releases and staged vetting hearings.
This idea came to me as a partial solution to how the electorate could prevent reality-challenged people from being elected to office, such as the three House of Representative members of the Committee on Science, Space and Technology who appear in Mr. Stewart’s program segment.
I know, you’re thinking it’s a good idea that will never happen. We’ll see. Lunar landing. The four-minute mile. The Berlin Wall. Constitutional amendment. It could happen!
In the meantime, I’d like to share some news of people who strike me as being Congress-worthy, who are standing waist deep on the front lines of solutions to the myriad global implications of climate change.
The Climate Reality Project is a diverse group of passionate individuals who have come together to help solve the greatest challenge of our time. They are cultural leaders, marketers, organizers, scientists, storytellers and more, and they are committed to building a better future together.
Climate Reality Project Mission
True change happens when we embrace reality. Today, we know climate disruption is the biggest challenge humanity has ever faced. And we know carbon pollution is to blame. But at Climate Reality, we also know that solutions are right in front of us. We can create a healthy, sustainable, and prosperous future by making a global shift from dirty fossil fuels to clean, renewable energies like solar and wind. Our leaders aren’t going to do it on their own. So we’re bringing millions together to make them, demanding change with a collective voice so loud and forceful they have no choice but to help shape the clean-energy future we need.
One of their projects was the recent 24 Hours of Reality, a live global event broadcast for 24 hours and including 24 reasons to be hopeful on the issue of climate change. Over the course of the multi-media event, world leaders, scientists, cultural icons, and everyday heroes discussed the shared challenges facing our planet caused by carbon pollution and pointed the way toward a better tomorrow.
You can now watch the 24 hours of this historic event on YouTube. (https://www.youtube.com/user/ClimateReality/videos)
These videos will help mitigate the migraines you no doubt experienced after watching the three stooges on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
