I felt my heart skip three hundred beats when you whipped me around the dance floor in a sweaty ode to Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.
And I think I saw stars when you came up behind me on my balcony and kissed my neck.
And I might have blushed when you looked across the table at me and told me that my eyes were the faintest blue you’d ever seen.
Will you be the love that changes me forever?
I’m not sure, but I love waking up and walking hand in hand to sip strong coffee and nibble on butter croissants at the neighborhood bakery.
Truth, I even like that I don’t know if or when you’ll call next.
And I love wondering if tonight will be a night when you show up at my doorstep with your backpack, a bottle of wine, and chapstick.
Will you be a game-changer in the story of my life?
I don’t know, but I like fighting with you about who will pay the bill.
And I sigh happily every single time you run ahead and open the car door for me.
And I melt when you take charge, push me against a wall, and kiss me with a fervor I’ve never known.
Will you be the love of my life?
I don’t know, but today your mocha skin and chocolate eyes are all I desire.
So I’m not sure that what happens tomorrow really matters…
Because right now you are my first thought upon waking and my last thought before I kick my socks off at night and drift into sleep.
So I guess you literally are a knock-my-socks-off kind of love. And for tonight, that’s enough.
