Sometimes the past can seem like a burden.
We all have regrets, past pain, people we’d like to forget. We have situations we wish we’d handled differently, whole conversations we wish we could rewrite. The past gave us scars and nightmares, problems and phobias. But, that seems to be what most people hang onto when they think about their past and I think that’s something we need to fix.
Without our pasts, we wouldn’t be where we are right now.
You might not be reading this. I might not have written it.
I have a few years of my life that I’ve spent a lot of energy trying to forget. I’m sure we all have a few years like that, right? But, even though those years hurt and put me through something I would never wish on anyone, I still wouldn’t be who I am today without having gone through that experience.
This is a meditation I did for the Global Meditation Scope event on Periscope. I hope that it will help you look at yourself differently in the mirror.
You are beautiful.
