I am blessed to have so many Aquarians in my life.
My Scorpio nature is drawn to the original, unpredictable sign.
Aquarius moves in mysterious ways. Whatever their path, Aquarius will always be shifting independently of rational reason, following its erratic planet Uranus to places that would make very little sense to any other sign in the zodiac.
Observing my daughter, who has been the biggest Aquarian influence on my life—as well as friends who have left their mark on my consciousness—I have come to realize that to love this sign one must be unconventional oneself.
Aquarius—so friendly, so engaging, so magnetic—seeks love while it seeks friendship. It simply will not work for long if their lover is not also someone they like. I’ve watched this time and again. Aquarius will always crave the comfort factor of a bosom buddy within a fulfilling love affair.
Aquarius looks for four important qualities in love:
Stimulating conversation.
Aquarius needs to feed mind and soul with something more than a superficial discussion about the weather. Disappointment will set in if, day after day, they are thwarted from sharing their interests and observations—or if their lover does not share their own.
Room to roam.
Independence is key here. Yes, you can count on Aquarius to engage in your activities and to spend quality time with their mate. But stifle them in any way and you will soon see them with their hand on the door. You will be called upon to understand their independent nature without question.
While they may want you to be available for them when they need you, you might have to wait sometimes for their undivided attention. That’s just the way it is. As long as they can still feel the wind in their hair, their proverbial wings will remain tucked in. But remove the draft to their wanderlust and you might be left standing alone. Aquarius is a free bird; there is no caging her in.
Freedom to express their creativity.
Aquarius is the wild child who is constantly creating something out of nothing. They see possibilities where others see dead ends. Aquarius looks for love that will stimulate and nurture their creativity. Often, they pair up with artists or poets, writers and visionaries, and if not they will be a source of inspiration for whichever sign captures their heart.
As long as their partner values that side of the passionate Aquarius, all will be well. But ignore their innovative side and Aquarius will fill a book with poetry about being misunderstood.
Grounding.
Aquarius is eternally in an alternate universe, dreaming up ways to shake up the status quo. They are romantics with high ideals. All this results in Aquarius often tapped energetically and physically, with little to spare for their own uses.
A good partner for Aquarius will encourage and support their seemingly impossible dreams while offering a safe, solid foundation to run to. Aquarius moves quickly from place to place—love to love at times—and is accused of being flaky. A partner who understands their flowing nature will provide stability when Aquarius forgets that standing still is also a worthwhile activity.

Aquarius with Aries
These two signs will either inspire or irritate each other. Both creative, fun loving and outspoken, Aries and Aquarius need to find the balance between their passions and their friendship. Aries may complain that Aquarius can be cool-hearted, and Aquarius may scoff at Aries’ sometimes childish pranks, but when focused on their love for each other, these two can burn with passion and adore each other immensely.
Aquarius with Taurus
Oh, I think that Aquarius may be just a bit much for steady, traditionalist Taurus. Something about Aquarius whipping about without an apparent reason just puts Taurus on edge. Taurus might accuse Aquarius of being flaky, while Aquarius may ask Taurus to stop stomping their feet and loosen their grip. Perhaps these two would be better off as friends. If partners, there will have to be a lot of compromising, and that might be too much work for Aquarius.
Aquarius with Gemini
I’ve watched my two daughters in action as friends and know that these two signs in any kind of relationship will have to allow room for candid conversations and many affirmations of love. They are so much alike, and yet so different, in their approach to things that friction easily ignites an ill-timed fire. However, a Gemini/Aquarius paring can be very passionate and productive. Much can be accomplished here for a gentler consciousness and mindful world. Both need a tender heart to love them; both need an inspired mind to feed them; both can offer that when focusing on their partner’s needs.
Aquarius with Cancer
Cancer is a strange bedfellow for Aquarius. As with all signs, one must remember that other influences besides our sun sign steer our personalities. Cancer will need all the moons and stars to truly be what Aquarius needs, and this is not Cancer’s fault, as Cancer is a lovely companion for many a sign. It’s just that Aquarius will ask for freedoms that Cancer is diametrically opposed to, and Cancer might not understand why their affections are deemed smothering. An evolved relationship between these two includes plenty of compromise.
Aquarius with Leo
The lovely, passionate Leo will want to support Aquarius and give plenty of advice—all well-intentioned and layered with kisses. Aquarius might react to this with mixed emotions. Love and passion are well and good as long as Leo is not too overbearing or dramatic. Sometimes Leo will ask why Aquarius is not showering them with lavish expressions of adoration, while Aquarius will want Leo to play on their own for a while. Balanced affections, warm interactions and a steady supply of intimacy—all interlaced with plenty of space for both—can make for a long-lasting and hot partnership.
Aquarius with Virgo
Virgo could help the rather flighty Aquarius by organizing their futuristic ideas into neat piles, pointing out the validity of some and encouraging the scrapping of others. All I can say is I hope Aquarius is in the mood for being managed, and that neither one will let their emotions fly. This relationship will have to focus on intimacy to keep the home fires burning; otherwise things might quickly cool.
Aquarius with Libra
Bingo! What a pairing! Libra is exceedingly sexy to Aquarius—all mind, kindness, encouragement and a balance of nature that inspires Aquarius to work on their rather shaky footing on the planet. Libra is not intimidated by the tremendously gregarious and interesting Aquarius. This can be hot! This can be everything that each sign ever dreamed of. Libra is like the warm ocean for Aquarius, while Aquarius feeds Libra’s need for passion and intellect. Let’s just get married already!
Aquarius with Scorpio
Scorpio will need to be on their best behavior here. No manipulating, controlling or arguing over futile ideas. If any two signs can lock heads, it’s these two. They really both want the same thing: to be agreed with. Both need freedom to spare, love in spades, sex that expresses warmth and an ever-flowing stream of ideas to act upon. Both signs want to change the world, in their own way. Together, Scorpio and Aquarius truly can revolutionize society. Compromise is key along with plenty of affection.
Aquarius with Sagittarius
Intelligent conversation. Love. Respect. Room to roam. Compromise. Can there be a better union? On the surface, everything is copacetic here. These two signs have the capacity to put all other unions to shame. But wait one moment, what could possibly go wrong? Aquarius might get bored of getting everything they need and, in a moment of madness, run away to look for a challenge. Sagittarius may have a little too much to say about the Aquarian love of eccentricity. This could be incredibly rewarding, or too much of a good thing.
Aquarius with Capricorn
As friends who swap ideas and encourage each other, these two make a fabulous team. Because of this, conservative Capricorn is wont to dive into the mad passion they imagine Aquarius will provide. Aquarius will be drawn to the practical Capricorn, and feed on the grounding they so often lack. Alas, Capricorn will soon be baffled by the Aquarian need for change, while Aquarius will bemoan their state of boredom and encourage their lover into an abyss that can only make Capricorn uncomfortable. A good friendship may be spoiled by love here unless both signs leave room for separate interests.
Aquarius with Aquarius
In every way this could be the best of times or the worst of times. Fiery sex, or heated arguments. Free flowing ideas, or a stalemate of wills. Inspired co-operation, or condescending disagreements. Aquarius can operate on a high conscious level, or fall into narrow-mindedness, allowing only for their own intuitiveness. This powerful sign will do well to listen to their own advice and allow their Aquarian partner to be fully expressive. Magic or disaster—it’s up to Aquarius to look in the mirror and tame their own demons.
Aquarius with Pisces
Dear Pisces, Aquarius is not for you. Unless you have a moon in your influence that will keep your sensitive nature immune to Aquarian foibles, you had best stay away. You’re simply too sensitive—a fish out of water with the star-roaming Aquarian. It’s not that Aquarius is heartless, it’s that they are so different from you that the opposite attraction theory cannot withstand your pairing. Unless Aquarius has evolved into understanding that they are not the only ones with easily bruised egos—and Pisces learns that different need not be discouraging—these two should leave it at coffee and cake.
~
No matter who falls in love with Aquarius, they will be blessed with a partner who shapes the world around them. When Aquarius is at their best, they are a deeply creative force—loving, peaceful and interesting as hell. Hang on; it might be a wild ride, but it will be worth it.
